Don't we already have a striker who played in the French league last season and seems to have been forgotten by everyone? He's called Emmanuel Mayuka!

Sometimes these type of transfers pay off! I would imagine someone has done their homework on this guy. So if they think he's good enough or has the potential that's fine with me.

We need a squad as well as a marquee striker. Rickie gone, Osvaldo going, Jay Rod crocked and we were probably one light anyway. Apparently we pushed for Hernandez as part of the Shaw deal but he rejected the move. Google it, there's a few articles on it.

Osvaldo and Ramirez (though he may yet come good) are examples of diving into the market paying big money and getting nothing….

I think we need an absolutely proven old pro and a youngster who has potential and whom can learn from the old hand…this applies to every position we are currently lacking in.

As much as I would love to see Hernandez in a Southampton shirt, I don't think he would come. He has played CL football and once these players have done that, they all seem to think that they have a god given right to play in that competition every year :-/
We are told that we have one of the best scouting networks in the league, so lets trust in that and hope that the players who come in, can settle quickly. I'm excited about Tadic, he is a good athlete and technically sound. We do need a top goalscorer though and I don't think Pelle is the answer. He only scored two goals when he was in seria A.

The trouble is we wont get anyone like Hernandez as he is a Europa league/Champions League forward. Allegedly the reason he wasn't part of the Shaw deal is he didn't want to come to us. PLus, why break our wage structure for one or two players....Osvaldo anyone?!?!
Plus, lets not forget, Hernandez came from Guadalajara in the Mexican league, not exactly the highest class league in the world.
This guy sounds promising, he is a good, young age and clearly knows where the goal is. As someone else said, don't forget JRod and Lambo were both lower league and adapted very well.
Give him a chance, we may have cash but it doesnt mean we can get top rate players!

As someone who has attended quite a few French 2nd tier matches ( at Chateauroux, who have sadly just been relegated) I can honestly say it is more on a par with our League One than the Premier League in terms of quality. Having said that, everyone has to start somewhere so, assuming the scouts have done their job properly, this lad could be an exciting prospect.

The guy obviously cuts the mustard at that level. Whether he can do it in the Premier league is of course a risk.

However, I would rather take that risk with a young, talented player with potential, hungry and ambitious, than with someone like Hernandez who seems to think hes found his niche and is unlikely to improve much or push himself harder.

Would be a good punt if RonKo thinks he is worth it because he could develop into a good striker & then worth a lot of money. At 22yrs and a 6ft Striker he is an option from the bench as would Danny Ings but would be cheaper.

However whilst he would be a good squad addition of potential we must sign certainly 1 if not 2 established Strikers to replace Ricky & Osvaldo.
But I am sure the Koeman Bros know this, have faith in them, they have come here to push us on from last season.

The bus stopped for a while to let a few off that don't fancy the ride, but we now have a much better driver who has the bus moving on again with the first of 6 or 7 to get on !!

Even Lovern may stay on, would love to hear what RonKo stays to him when they eventually meet, probably lay into him with the facts of life and either have him pleading for forgiveness OR kicked out of the club so fast that his feet won't touch the ground !!

Another Frenchman to encourage Morgan to stay, I think we should give Morgan a new contract with more cash and make him captain. That could be out best signing of the lot and would stop the exodus.

I and probably thousands of other people say he's not good enough to play for Southampton.

Having shown initial promise, he's suffered from lack of competitive football and become a dwarf version of Torres. Will probably never recover that arrogance, form and natural instinct that comes with being a first choice striker.

Oddly enough I prefer to be discoverers and developers rather than gatherers, most of the big name players tend to be too full of themselves and are not generally team players, which is what we really need to succeed. I used to have sympathy for Hernandez as I thought he was being misused by Manure, but since his latest disclosure I no longer care where he goes, he is probably thinking he is too good for Manure as well.

Thanks for the link - looks a nippy little striker, got a good shot on him.

BTW did you happen to watch the film of Paul Nardi which features on the same page. If I'm reading it right Monaco have just bought him if not he would be hand as a keeper.

Clearly it would be a punt (not the shot, the transfer) but his main attributes seem to be good: http://www.youtube.c om/watch?v=R5wOvBSib 2w[/p][/quote]Thanks for the link - looks a nippy little striker, got a good shot on him. Have read, on another forum, that the Pelle deal has stalled, owing to us looking at other options.

Maybe Feyenord are pricing him too high?
Will know soon enough as I also read that Pelle was holidaying in Italy, until Thursday.
Pelle played in a friendly last evening at Feyenord, scored two goals was taken off at half time. Was not present at this mornings training session for some reason, so the tweets tell us.
His absence from training was down to a slight ankle problem.

WTF are you looking in that rag for, knitting patterns or crosswords where every answer is a Tory? Of course it's not true.

French daily newspaper Le 10 Sport has revealed that Tottenham have opened talks for Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino hopes to get reunited with the player at White Hart Lane and he has instructed the club officials to try and lure the France international to North London.

Just lifted this snippet from sportsnews.com which as posted about an hour ago - hoping this is just speculative gossip. Rambo needs to be concentrating on buying not selling. Still time for Morgan to be convinced his future is bright here though.
