There's a good article on the BBC from Ben Smith about Saints. It highlights Lallana as the main lynch pin and how we handled him badly and after that the others wanting to leave was nailed on. Apparently no efforts were made to try and get Lallana to stay which I find strange.

Saints do have ambition the trouble is the perception is very much the opposite. We should have signed players before letting any go for starters.

Now we look to the future. Signing Hernandez would be a big big signing for Saints and actually surprise many. Forster in goal and Van Djyk from Celtic would then strengthen the team. Then we will start looking stronger.

Will Morgan be sold after the statements from Kruegar? Has this statement been made to insure Spurs pay top price for him and maybe the offer of players in return is a sign that they accept it is going to hard to prize him away. Saints have said all along they would be prepared to keep an unhappy player if their premium valuation was not met. Spurs will not get him on the cheap.
I read this article too and was interested to read the author's assertion that Lallana was universally admired and held the dressing room together through the strength of his personality. There don't seem to be too many other articles around that share this perspective, and the claim didn't appear to be borne out on the pitch on the occasions that Pochettino (for reasons we didn't understand then but perhaps have a better inkiling of now) gave him the captain's armband. I think maybe things make more sense if the hypothesis put forward on the link provided by Costa Baz is taken into consideration.

There will be those who refuse to believe a word of it for no better reason than that they're determined not to believe a word of it. However it does present a reasoned and researched argument in favour of one possible explanation."

TOTTENHAM have reportedly offered Romanian defender Vlad Chiriches to Saints as a makeweight in any deal to sign Morgan Schneiderlin.

Spurs only signed the 24-year-old centre half from Steaua Bucharest last summer for £8.5m, and he went on to play 24 times for the London club in all competitions.

There is also speculation today that Louis Van Gaal will consider selling striker Javier Hernandez.

The Mexican international has continually been linked with Saints all summer, even before Ronald Koeman’s arrival as manager.

The 26-year-old has scored 37 Premier League goals for United in 48 starts plus 53 sub appearances in his four seasons at Old Trafford.
