Tom and Harry Foyle put bat to ball with some gusto as St Cross Symondians ratted up 175-6 to beat Bishop’s Waltham by 56 runs to win the Winchester & District CA Igglesden Trophy.
Tom smashed 30 off ten balls – three sixes and three boundaries – to give St Cross a blistering start, which women’s hockey coach Jack Middleton (21) and Dan Young, with a quick fire 43 subsequently extended.
Then it was Harry Foyle’s turn – Sam Medhurst coming in for a fearful blast, with 25 runs coming off one of his overs.
Foyle cracked 38 off 16 balls as St Cross posted a match winning score.
Josh Merluk took 5-24 as Bishop’s Waltham replied with 119-8, Henry Magee scoring 45.
l Martin Cheyney (51) and Jake Roach (55) hit half-centuries and Doug Butler weighed in with a five-wicket haul as Tichborne Park comfortably beat Ropley by 68 runs to regain the Winchester & District CA Tichborne Trophy after a two-year absence.
Tichborne’s 142-5 proved far beyond Ropley, who managed only 74-7 in reply, Butler taking 5-26 and Tom Allam 2-12.
