A second former Saints manager has quit Queens Park Rangers today.
Following on from this afternoon’s shock news regarding Harry Redknapp’s departure, Rangers’ first team coach Glenn Hoddle has now left Loftus Road.
Hoddle, brought in by Redknapp at the start of the season, has spoken of his surprise at developments as he also confirmed he would be leaving ahead of this weekend's home Premier League clash with former employers Saints.
The 57-year-old ex-England manager said: “I am a bit shocked and surprised, to tell you the truth.
“We all know football is a results-orientated businesss but I always felt that given a few more games, Harry could have turned it around down there at the bottom.
“'It would have only taken a couple of good results to have achieved that as it is very tight down there.
“But that's football for you.
“I have enjoyed coming back into coaching and I thanked Harry for giving me that opportunity to tip my toe back into the coaching arena.”
Hoddle was linked with replacing Redknapp as Hoops boss, but he has not managed a club side since leaving Wolves in 2006.
