Ronald Koeman believes that Saints are only five or six wins away from European football.

The Saints boss has seen his side collect a win and a draw in their last two games to give them a sense of momentum with nine matches remaining.

They face Burnley at St Mary’s on Saturday hoping to secure another valuable victory.

Koeman said: “I think still if you win another five or six then you have a good possibility but I think of course we fight for the highest position on the table.

“That will be something extra.

“I think we are on the sixth and seventh place together with Tottenham and distance behind is already eight or nine points and that gives a comfortable situation but we like to win and finish in a higher position than we are now.

“It’s very difficult because it’s not easy to beat and come between the big ones in the table but we still have the possibility and we have to believe it.”
