JOHN Robson has turned down the chance to become director of football at Blackfield &Langley in order to try and find another managerial job.

The experienced boss was replaced at Gang Warily by Glenn Howes after the end of the season, but was offered the opportunity to take a behind the scenes role at the Gang Warily club, writes ADAM LEITCH.

Robson didn’t feel it was the right thing for him, as he still has the desire to get back into management as soon as possible.

That has led to him formally resigning from the Watersiders, but he leaves with happy memories.

Robson said: “I’ve been around a long time and been with different clubs but the experience at Blackfield & Langley was something that you don’t expect in football.

“It’s difficult to explain but I’ve enjoyed it and there are a lot of people behind the scenes that help to run that club that are superb.

“Anything you need, they would do it for you.

“It was a great experience and one I’m very grateful for.

“I was offered the director of football job but I am not sure about it at that level.

“Glenn Howes has been appointed as manager and he’s a good lad .

“I wish him and his coaching staff all the best.

“I still want to be a manager and to be involved in football.

“I want to be in football until they put me in a box.”
