Saints are hopeful that Jordy Clasie will be fit and available to make his Premier League debut against Everton on Saturday.
The Dutch midfielder has missed the last couple of games with a hamstring injury, which forced him off during the home Europa League win over Vitesse, but made a comeback for the under-21s on Monday night.
However, that also ended abruptly as he came off just after half time following a heavy collision.
Clasie’s withdrawal was precautionary and is being treated as a knock rather than a major problem.
Saints are hopeful they can get him back on the training ground today.
If that is the case then he is expected to be able to prove his fitness ahead of the game against the Toffees at St Mary’s.
