Graziano Pelle’s haka celebration was a tribute to Saints’ sports therapist Graeme Staddon.
The Italian striker, who had already celebrated a goal during the recent rugby World Cup with a mock diving try, was on top form again after scoring Saints’ second against Bournemouth.
He ran straight to bench and found Staddon to take part in a makeshift haka.
Staddon is New Zealand born and a huge rugby fan, and it was Pelle’s way of celebrating with him the All Blacks’ win over Australia in the final on Saturday.
Saints manager Ronald Koeman laughed: “Why not? Graeme is from New Zealand and is a big fan and happy for him that they won the title in rugby.
“It was nice to see.”
