SAINTS flop Gaston Ramirez says he wants to prove that he's good enough to play in the Premier League.

Ramirez's contract at St Mary's expires in the summer and the playmaker admits that he would sign permanently at Middlesbrough if they win promotion to the top-flight.

The Uruguayan, who made 55 appearances for Saints, moved to the Championship high-fliers on loan in January after an up and down time at St Mary's.

He said:“If Boro get promoted would I talk about staying? Why not?

“At the moment I am only thinking about this team and winning the Championship and going up. But after that...

“I feel I am good enough to play in the Premier League. I am fighting for that.

"I want to show that I can play at the top level. I want to show good I am. That is my ambition.”

Second-placed Boro and Ramirez can keep their promotion ambitions on track tonight at strugglers Rotherham.

The 25-year-old has scored three times in six appearances with Aitor Karanka's outfit.
