FORMER Eastleigh and AFC Totton striker Brett Williams has moved clubs again.

The 28-year-old Southampton-born forward has joined Eastleigh’s National League rivals Torquay after ending the 2015/16 season as a beaten Wembley finalist.

Williams moved from Aldershot – where he scored 36 goals in two National League seasons – to Stevenage last summer.

But he made only 15 League 2 appearances prior to returning to non league football in November to sign for Forest Green Rovers.

Williams scored five goals in eight starts plus 17 sub outings for the Gloucestershire club.

On his last start for Rovers, he was subbed at half-time during the 3-1 play off final loss to Grimsby at Wembley.

“This signing will please a few fans,” said Torquay player-manager Kevin Nicholson.

“Brett is a proven goalscorer at this level. He did well at Forest Green last season and before that did very well at Aldershot where he pretty much averaged one in two.

“He’ll bring competition for places up front along with Nathan Blissett and Shaun Harrad who we are hoping to bring back. If we can add Shaun then we’ll have a potent strike force.

“It’s so far, so good with the signings we have been able to make. There’s a little more work to do in building the squad, then a lot more work to start pre-season well and reach our goals. I think Brett will be a big part of this.”

Williams left Eastleigh to sign for Reading in the summer of 2010. But he failed to make a first team appearance in three years with the Berkshire club prior to returning to Hampshire to sign for Aldershot.

Williams was the fifth tier’s third top scorer in his debut Shots season of 2013/14 with 24 goals.

The only players to score more were Luton’s Andre Gray and Lee Gregory of Halifax.

Gray has just been promoted to the Premier League with Burnley, while Gregory fired 27 goals in all competitions in 2015/16 for League 1 play-off finalists Millwall.
