SOUTHAMPTON'S Oli Bromby helped Great Britain to sixth place in the men’s 4x100 metres relay at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships in Poland today.
After winning their Friday heat in 39.19 seconds, the fastest time clocked by a GB Junior team in 2016, the squad went even faster in the final.
With Bromby again running the second leg, they crossed the line in a season’s best 39.57, finishing a shade behind the Australians who were given the same time.
The USA quartet sped to glory in 38.93, followed by Japan (39.01), Germany (39.13), Jamaica (39.13) and Australia (39.57).
Bromby, who was joined in the British team by Zanson Plummer, Ryan Gorman and Gerald Matthews, said afterwards: “We did great today.
“We felt we had a lot more and we feel for the future we can really do something.”
Teammate Plummer added: “The changeovers went much better today than yesterday. We are disappointed not to medal, but really pleased to get a season’s best.”
