TEAM Solent boss James Taylor is hoping to sign a goalkeeper before tomorrow's big Wessex showdown at Blackfield & Langley – or he will have to play himself!

With new arrival Bradley Banda on duty with Gibraltar under-19s, former England semi-pro targetman Taylor took over between the sticks for Saturday’s 4-1 Sydenhams Premier victory at Fawley AFC.

Solent head back to the Waterside tomorrow (Tuesday) to face table-topping Blackfield and Taylor said yesterday: “I’m not sure yet who we’ll have in goal. At the moment it’s me, but I’m looking around for a 'keeper.

“Bradley’s going to miss three more games.”

After a slow start to the season, Solent are gathering force and Saturday’s was their fifth straight win in all competitions.

Former QPR youngster Tyrell Mitford netted twice in the first-half before the Oilers hit back and then Pip Nolan made it 3-1 before Mitford completed his hat-trick.

“I wouldn’t call it a great performance, it was efficient,” said Taylor.

Mitford had previously scored three against Bashley in mid-August – the day Solent’s other goalkeeper George Passingham fractured his finger in four places.

"We don't have much luck with goalkeepers," said Taylor.
