MICKY Adams is the obvious choice to replace George Burley.

That's the opinion of ex-Dell striker Gordon Watson, who feels the former Saints defender would "unite" the club.

Watson said: "There is only one name for me - Micky Adams is an absolute no-brainer.

"He lives locally, he knows the club, he would bring a passion and enthusiasm to the job, his teams play the right way, he would bring Saints people in to his backroom staff.

"He is big mates with Glenn Cockerill, who has done his apprenticeship with Woking, and also with Matt Le Tiss. Tiss still calls Cockerill skip'."

Adams is also available as he left his post as Colchester United assistant manager earlier this month.

Watson, who has commented on Saints for Radio Hampshire this season, continued: "The board have a great chance now to bring in the right man for the job. Whether they take that chance, I don't know!"
