Eastleigh's play-off dreams were shattered with a 0-0 draw to Solihull Moors, where they were made to rue missed chances and a red card to Christian Maghoma.

Maghoma was booked within the opening quarter hour, and was sent off following a harsh yellow card in the 35th minute for a late but genuine-looking challenge in Eastleigh's last home game of the season.

They now face the impossible in the play-off race: they are three points away with one game remaining, but 7th place Boreham Wood have two games in hand and are 17 ahead in goal difference.

It took Eastleigh half an hour to take control of the game, but a spell of chances towards the end of the half threatened to open the scoring - especially through Charlie Carter who got onto the end of a brilliant Danny Whitehall through ball and had his one-on-one effort palmed wide.

Maghoma was then sent off for a foul down the right wing, which sparked a brief on-field altercation and a deafening boo from 2,841 fans in attendance at Silverlake Stadium.

Eastleigh remained in the driver’s seat, and Oscar Rutherford came inches away from scoring at the end of the first half - Harper’s cross rose slightly over his head and he was unable to connect with his header.

An animated Lee Bradbury demanded more from his dominant side throughout the second half, and Whitehall missed a chance to win it deep into stoppage time when he headed Jake Scrimshaw's cross wide of an open goal.
