NEW Eastleigh signing Ben Reeves is "looking forward" to getting in front of the fans at the Silverlake Stadium - 11 years after he departed Southampton.

The 32 year old came through Southampton’s academy before being released in June 2013.

However, that setback has not stopped him from having a successful career in the Football League.

He has gone on to play over 250 times for MK Dons, Charlton Athletic, Plymouth Argyle, and Gillingham - while also being capped twice for Northern Ireland.

Speaking to Eastleigh's official media, Reeves revealed what the Spitfires supporters can expect from him.

"I’m just someone who likes to get on the ball as much as possible, create chances, and hopefully get on the end of a few as well.

"I’m someone who wants to win so I bring that mentality. It suits everyone and I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans here.

"I had a phone call earlier in the week (saying) there was interest and I thought it was a good opportunity for me to get back playing again."

The midfielder made 13 appearances for Saints - with three of those coming in the 2012-13 Premier League season.

Reeves claimed he enjoyed his time on the south coast with Southampton and is ready to now make an impact for the Spitfires, as they look to challenge for the National League play-offs.

"I can’t thank (Southampton) enough. I was there from the ages of 9 to 21.

“I think my last under-21s game was here (at the Silverlake Stadium).

"That must have been 12 years ago now. There were some amazing coaches and staff.

“Every day the standard was set high and hopefully, I can bring that here."

The Spitfires have also confirmed the loan signings of Dagenham and Redbridge centre-back David Longe-King and AFC Bournemouth defender Ben Greenwood.
