IT has taken 60 games, three and half seasons and countless thrashings.

But Hampshire-based Sunday League side Marchwood have finally notched their first ever league points.

And they didn’t just settle for a solitary point to break their duck either.

Instead, they earned three of them with a 4-2 victory over LFC Walsall.

Marchwood began life in Division Six of the City of Southampton Sunday League in 2005/06.

And since then they have endured a seemingly endless tale of woe as they have suffered horrendous beatings almost every week.

In fact, before their win over Walsall, they had played 60 league games ... and lost every single one.

In that time they had also shipped a truly staggering 617 goals and scored just a paltry 27.

Unsurprisingly they have finished rock-bottom of the table in each of their three completed Division Six terms.

But Marchwood’s persistence, determination and sheer will to succeed finally paid off on Sunday when they made a mark in the ‘points’ column for the first time with their victory over Walsall, which left the defeated side propping up the table.
