SOUTHAMPTON’S Richard Bland fired seven birdies and eagled the par-five 16th for the second day running to move up 36 places into a tie for third after three rounds of the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open today.

The 36-year-old, who badly needs a good result to kick-start his European Tour campaign, picked up shots at the first, third, fourth, seventh, 11th and 13th holes but dropped strokes at the second, eighth and 14th to lie three under for his round with four holes to play. Then came a grandstand finish of an eagle on the 16th and a further birdie on the 18th for a six-under 66.

Bland, who opened with a level par 72 before following up with a 71, will be out in the final group tomorrow as he chases his first main tour victory, partnered with second-placed Alexander Noren (Sweden) and leader Thongchai Jaidee (Thailand) who lie on -8 and -9 respectively.
