MARK WOTTE has called on Ryan Smith to use his “world class” abilities to put Wolves to the sword.
The Saints head coach was impressed by Smith’s display as he threw him in against Watford on Tuesday night as Wotte switched from a diamond shaped midfield to a formation with genuine wingers.
Wotte believes that Smith has the ability to make a fantastic career for himself but says he needs to start showing it when he gets a first team chance.
He said: “Ryan’s a brilliant player with a very strange career but his ability is world class. Really it is world class.
“When you see him in training and reserve team matches, you are amazed by his quality, but he has to put it in the first team now.
“With his speed he could be very dangerous tomorrow against Wolves.
“He’s out of contract next season so he has something else to play for.”
