Saints’ survival hopes are going right to the wire after another day of frustration – but the Matt Le Tissier backed bid remains in pole position.

The clock is ticking if the club is to be saved from extinction but a deal to buy it looks like taking even longer.

Administrator Mark Fry had set the frontrunners, the Matt Le Tissier-backed Pinnacle group, a deadline of yesterday to have delivered on their promises or face being frozen out of negotiations.

But that apparent ultimatum did not seem to be followed through and the Daily Echo understands the deadline has been extended until Monday.

We further understand that there was still a flurry of activity between the interested parties late last night.
