SAINTS can break into the top half of the table tomorrow – just three games after being in the relegation zone.

Alan Pardew’s side will welcome League One strugglers Tranmere to St Mary’s as they hope to complete an incredible rise up the division.

Saints are searching for their fourth league win on the spin and their fifth in all competitions.

If they achieve it, they could reach as high as 12th in the table.

That would be a remarkable turnaround, given that they were in the bottom four less than two weeks ago.

When Wycombe visited St Mary’s a week ago last Tuesday, Saints were 21st in the division.

A scrappy 1-0 win over Gary Waddock’s team lifted Saints up one place, just above the drop zone.

That was a big psychological step for Saints, who had been entrenched in the bottom four ever since the season began.

However, with the ten-point deficit wiped out, and the relegation zone finally left behind, Saints are looking to progress into the top half.

Last Saturday’s 3-1 win at Walsall was impressive, and not just for the fashion it came in against one of the division’s in-form sides.

The result also moved Saints up FIVE positions, to 15th in the table.

If things go their way tomorrow, supporters can start looking at the top half of the division, rather than scrolling to the bottom, when they check the standings.

A lot of things will have to go right for Saints, though.

Firstly, they will require the maximum three points from tomorrow’s game.
