The first steps of a ten-year plan to provide and promote tennis in Eastleigh got underway at the weekend.
Youngsters from five local schools competed in a tournament set up at the newly-formed Fleming Park Tennis Centre.
Seven and eight-year-olds from St Swithun Wells, St Francis, Norwood, Fryern and Merdon schools competed, with Merdon coming out on top.
Twelve of the budding tennis stars will now go on to take part in the Hampshire Mini Games.
Commercial and operations director Richard Cutler said: "This is a very exciting development and represents a new start for tennis provision in Eastleigh.
"Establishing the Fleming Park Tennis Cente will provide local residens with an open and welcoming club where opportunities will exist for everyone to participate, no matter what their age of ability."
