JIMMY Adams will captain Hampshire at next month's Caribbean T20.

Hampshire's Player of the Year will lead a young team that will also include new signing Johann Myburgh when the Royals play their first game against Canada in Antigua on January 10.

Hampshire Royals: Jimmy Adams (c), Johann Myburgh, Michael Bates, Danny Briggs, Sean Ervine, James Vince, Chris Wood, Tim Ravenscroft, Adam Rouse, Liam Dawson, Benny Howell, David Griffiths, Simon Jones, Hamza Riazuddin and James Tomlinson.

Manager, Giles White said; “The squad we’re taking to the Caribbean is a young one, but it’s also a very exciting one with plenty of proven Twenty20 performers in it. There will also be some good new blood in there, bringing fresh ideas.

“However, we’ve also got some fantastic experience in our ranks and the likes of Simon Jones, Sean Ervine and James Tomlinson will be perfect for the younger players to listen to and learn from.

“Jimmy Adams will lead the side and I’m sure he’ll do a brilliant job. He’s an excellent cricketer, who led the way in the Twenty20 run-scoring last season. On top of that, he’s liked and respected by all of the players around him."
