Wotton leaves Saints to join Yeovil

Daily Echo: Paul Wotton Paul Wotton

PAUL Wotton's contract at Saints has been terminated by mutual consent, with the midfielder signing an 18-month deal at Yeovil.

The 33-year-old has been on loan at Huish Park since the turn of the year, after falling out of favour at St Mary's.

Wotton, who has made just three appearances for Saints this season, also spent some time at Oxford earlier in the campaign.

The former Plymouth Argyle stalwart was signed by Jan Poortvliet in the summer of 2008, and went on to make 71 appearances for the club.

Saints thanked Wotton for his services in a statement on their official website.

Tad harsh, he was part of the squad at one time but we've moved beyond that now.

I forget who we were playing but NA brought him on to protect a lead and he sat so deep he brought them on to us and it ended up a nervy last few minutes. I thought then we'd never see him again.

I think some of you have very short memories. He was the inspiration in the JPS last season!

I think some of you should be more gracious. No he's not Messi or Maradonna, simply an honest professional who gave 100%.

Not that he wasn't handsomely paid for his services, he made a valuable contribution to the club in it's time of need behind the scenes on the training ground and in the dressing room.

Good luck Wotter's!
