PORTSMOUTH players have once again faced a delay in being paid.
Earlier this week, 10 players at Fratton Park discovered their wages had not been paid into their bank accounts.
This lead to fears the club may be returning to the severe financial difficulty it found itself in last season.
However, it has been claimed the delay in paying the players this time was due to a bank error.
Lloyds TSB, Pompey's bank, have contacted the players to apologise, according to the club's chief executive, David Lampitt.
Lloyds TSB had not responded to a request for a comment at the time of publication.
At the end of last season, Portsmouth players failed to be paid on time on a number of occasions, with banking errors being blamed, as well as a lack of cash flow.
At the time, Pompey were in administration and in danger of going out of business.
