THE 125th anniversary of Southampton Football Club was celebrated in style last night, as some of the greatest Saints legends of all time gathered in the city.

A gala dinner at the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel was capped with a lifetime achievement award being presented to 1976 FA Cup winning boss Lawrie McMenemy.

Hundreds of supporters came together with some of the club's most famous players and managers to mark the special occasion.

Among those present were Kevin Keegan, Graeme Souness, James Beattie, Matt Le Tissier, Mick Channon, Dave Merrington, Franny Benali and many members of the victorious '76 team.

The celebration continues this evening, as a tribute night, featuring more than 50 of the club's heroes, is held at a sold-out Mayflower Theatre.
