TWO of the biggest names in European football are reportedly monitoring Saints starlet Alex Chamberlain.

There are claims that AC Milan representatives were present to look at the 17-year-old when he made his England under-21 debut against Italy under-21s in Empoli last month.

Chamberlain came on as a 60th minute sub in that friendly, three months after making his England under-18 debut against Poland at Wycombe Wanderers.

A report in one of today’s national newspapers also states Barcelona are interested in Chamberlain, who was on the bench for his club at Walsall on Tuesday night as he was carrying a hamstring injury.

It is believed Arsenal are in pole position to sing Chamberlain in the summer if he and his advisors feel a move from St Mary’s would benefit his career, and if the Gunners meet Saints’ multi-million pound asking price.
