Radhi Jaidi has signed a new one-year contract with Saints.
The 35-year-old Tunisian centre half was one of half a dozen players with first team experience whose deals expired this summer.
And he is the first to publically commit his future to the club.
Jaidi started 31 games for Saints in their League One promotion winning campaign, scoring three goals.
The main questions were whether he would want to carry on for a further year and if Nigel Adkins felt the veteran’s legs could not only last another season but at a higher level too.
With positive answers coming back from both of those Jaidi will again be competing for a place in the heart of the Saints defence alongside Jose Fonte as Saints start their assault on the Championship.
