CHRIS Tremlett continued his magnificent Rose Bowl return by claiming his sixth wicket against Sri Lanka this afternoon.

The former Hampshire fast bowler took the first three wickets to fall on the second day during an outstanding first spell from the Pavilion End (6-0-18-3) to reduce Sri Lanka to 117 for seven.

After another rain-delayed start, Tremlett had Thilan Samaraweeracaught (31) by Kevin Pietersen at second slip.

Then Thisara Perera (2) edged an attempted pull and was caught by Matt Prior at the end of Tremlett's next over, leaving Sri Lanka 91 for six.

Tremlett claimed his fifth wicket when former Hampshire spinner Rangana Herath (12) pulled him straight to James Anderson at deep fine leg.

At the end of his first spell of the day, his match figures read; 17-5-35-5.

And after Graeme Swann had Prassana Jayawardene caught at deep mid-wicket by Eoin Morgan, Tremlett's steep bounce undid Surranga Lakmal, who gloved to Prior in the second over of the 29-year-old's next spell.

Tremlett only took five wickets at the Rose Bowl on four occasions for Hampshire and has achieved the feat once before for England - a previous career-best 5 for 87 at Perth last December.
