SAINTS strengthened their position at the top of the Championship, after thumping Watford 4-0 at St Mary’s.
Rickie Lambert’s penalty midway through the first-half had given Nigel Adkins’ men a slender lead at the interval.
Another Lambert spot-kick doubled the advantage shortly after the restart, before Guly do Prado side-footed home a third.
Substitute Lee Holmes, making his first league appearance since November 2010, added a fourth late on with a curling effort from 20 yards.
Saints’ 14th consecutive home league win means they remain top of the pile in the Championship going into the second international break of the season.
