NIGEL Adkins and Rickie Lambert have been overlooked in the npower Championship awards for October.

The Saints duo were shortlisted for the manager and player prizes respectively, but both have lost out.

Unsurprisingly, Birmingham's Chris Hughton was the pick of the bosses, with his team earning more points than any other side in the division during October.

The player of the month award went to Crystal Palace defender Nathaniel Clyne.

He returned from a foot injury that had ruled him out since pre-season to feature in four Championship matches during October, helping Palace keep a clean sheet in all of them.

Adkins has been shortlisted for the manager award in each of the season's first three months, but is yet to win.

Lambert, who scored three times during October, was also nominated in September, but lost to Middlesbrough's Matthew Bates on that occasion.
