Tadanari Lee secures work permit for Southampton

Daily Echo: Tadanari Lee Tadanari Lee

SAINTS have secured a work permit for Japanese striker Tadanari Lee, clearing the way for him to join the club.

The 26-year-old international did not meet the criteria on the initial application, but was approved on appeal today.

Lee, who is currently back in Japan, will finalise his entry clearance papers - which allow him to enter the UK for work purposes - from the British Embassy and return to Southampton as soon as possible to sign his contract with Saints, the club confirmed in a statement issued this evening.

Lee is joining from top-flight J-League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

I've finally managed to sort it.

I always use Internet Explorer to open Websites and, despite the best advice from several more gifted folk on here, I couldn't work out how to prevent the darn thing.

Someone suggested the Firefox blocker, so I installed that (can't remember it's exact name).

Anyway, this means that I can now open the Echo site with Firefox and the blocker automatically cuts out all the cr4p.

So, thanks to whoever suggested it and good luck to those struggling to deal with the stupid ads.

BUT, come on Echo. This might be bringing you some income but it's costing you custom. Surely the simplest answer is to get rid of this altogether.

As for Tadanari Lee, this is a good start to the window. Furthermore, judging by the pic, he's not just an international striker, he's a cricket umpire, too. Top bloke!

Think your international appearances were worked out over 2 years, but Lee's have been mainly in the last year. Our argument was that he was up and coming and would be an asset in the League. What they are trying to prevent is average but cheap foreign players keeping local players out of a job. As he's back in Japan, I doubt he'll be playing this Saturday. Great news though.

Best bit cut from OS is: "the football authorities, who agreed that the international star is an exceptional talent that will enhance the game in this country, and at the age of 26 has plenty to offer over many years.
His record of 15 goals in 32 J-League games last year has ensured his status as one of the hottest properties in Asian football"

He still has to do the paper work at the Embassy in Japan and get back on a plane to UK to sign his contract.

I'll celebrate then. Good Luck and well done SFC and Tadanari.

ps to sort ads on the page use "flash block" with the correct version for your browser.. (also check you install the one with the most downloads) It works a treat and does not slow down at all.

Brilliant news I suppose he is too late to play at Fores.t I was hoping to see him there. A few more in and we will be back on course. Lets get back to the form we had at season start. There will be a few sides losing players to African Cup. Have you seen the picture of the potential new skate owners. That Androkou or whoever is priceless I dont know where he finds them. They look as inbred as the blue few.

maybe because Arsenal caught wind of it and told him to shut the fcuk up, but initially he did state on his twitter that he wouldnt mind a loan move as he was disappointed being on bench

It's a fair point. I believe it's Korea which has a reputation for serving up dogs, and it's doubtless untrue. In Japan they have a remarkably healthy diet. In other not-all-foreign-coun
tries-are-the-same news, everyone seems convinced there was a commercial motive for signing Lee. If this was true we'd have signed someone from China which is a far larger market. Lee, I'm convinced, was scouted purely for his footballing abilities.

I think you will find Japan eat dog too? My friend has an Japanese exchange student living with him, and it's no difference to us eating pigeon or hair. I AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS ONE, IT DRIVING ME UP THE BLOODY WALL. GET RID OF IT.
You want to use the web browser add on adblocker plus Blocks all advertisements on all web pages from loading up
I've finally managed to sort it.

Agree, just quote this is you agree.

It's a fair point. I believe it's Korea which has a reputation for serving up dogs, and it's doubtless untrue. In Japan they have a remarkably healthy diet. In other not-all-foreign-coun tries-are-the-same news, everyone seems convinced there was a commercial motive for signing Lee. If this was true we'd have signed someone from China which is a far larger market. Lee, I'm convinced, was scouted purely for his footballing abilities.
I think you will find Japan eat dog too? My friend has an Japanese exchange student living with him, and it's no difference to us eating pigeon or hair. I hate when people keep saying it's offensive mentioning the eating of dogs, it remind me of a bricklayer building a small wall for a dwarf. Will say anything other than dwarf.
I find it offensive and I'm not a prude!

The main reason is that, contrary to what you say, to the best of my knowledge, Japan isn't a country in which dog meat is eaten.

It would be like a signing a German and the fans singing about eating frogs legs or snails.

So, in terms of a song, I tend to agree with the 'Lee Will Rock You' suggestion by Confucious. It's easy to learn and, after a goal, the SMS DJ can stick on a bit of Queen.

When you say 'Japan eat dogs too' are you refering to the effeminate futurists from the 80s? I would put nothing past those guys, frankly. That whole post-punk pop scene was pretty crazy.

Folks, Koreans eat dog regularly, and mighty tasty it is too. The Japanese do not. Nevertheless, as a second-generation Korean in Japan, Tadanari has most likely had his fair share. Let's move on.

Raw skate, chopped or otherwise, is not normally served in sushi restaurants. It's probably even rarer than poopey supporters.

I hate when people keep saying it's offensive mentioning the eating of dogs, it remind me of a bricklayer building a small wall for a dwarf. Will say anything other than dwarf.
Japanese people don't eat dogs.
I hope the hair doesn't get stuck in the back of your throat.
Like I said my friends exchange student staying at his place 'Shiro' told me it's still common meat along with cat and rodents where he lives in Hino. So I'm taking that as fact, as he doesn't have much of a sense of humour.

He is a good football player but he is sad as it remains, if he plays half of you out, you will be happy.

I am in the Far East this week so I am watching local TV sports channels. Believe me Tadanari Lee is hot property over here and that goal he scored in the Asia Cup - wow, it would make goal of the season anywhere. His quality is indisputable. Welcome to Saints Tad. Will have to use internet to follow Saints demolition of Notts Forest - arrgghh!!!
