AFC Totton defender Jamie Whisken is hoping to celebrate back-to-back promotions like his best pal Adam Lallana.
The pair both enjoyed promotions last year and Whisken is confident he can help complete the other half of another memorable double at Oxford City this afternoon.
Lallana and his Saints teammates celebrated promotion to the Premier League last week, while Whisken – who will be best man at the Saints star’s wedding next year – and his Totton teammates are just 90 minutes from Blue Square South.
The Stags will join the likes of Eastleigh and Salisbury City in the sixth tier of English football if they beat Oxford in today’s Evostik Southern Premier play-off final.
“It’s brilliant for Adam to be in the Premier League, he really deserves it and hopefully we can go up again as well,” said centre-half Whisken, who has known Lallana since they were schoolboys in Bournemouth.
