Theo says England players believe they can win

EX-SAINTS winger Theo Walcott insists the England players believe they can “beat anyone” as they prepare for Sunday’s European Championship quarter-final against Italy.

The former St Mary’s star has proved instrumental in guiding Roy Hodgson’s side to the top of their group and into the knockout phase of the tournament.

England now face Italy in Kiev, as they begin a potentially daunting route to glory.

The winners of Sunday’s showdown are likely to face an imperious-looking Germany in the semi-finals.

Theo! Now you've totally Murray Walkered it. We were going along just nicely on a diet of "We're not really very good" and "there are more gifted teams in the tournament". The minute we start believing the hype and thinking we're actually any good we're done for.

disregard what theo has said this is what is important.
i can honestly say this is the worst squad of players we have ever sent to a major tournament in over 50 years.
the manager has not been given a fair crack of the whip (and this because of the F.A. were worried about the price of brown paper bags.)
i have no expectations of this squad but it's still england they are my team and i will be in the pub sunday with a few others supporting them.
anyone know a witchdoctor, a couple of spells will do the trick

I think our first 11 is actually alright but there's not a lot in terms of depth. If Gerrard gets injured then we're literally (not literally) buggered.

Hold on Theo my son.

Privately being bullish is great, but broadcasting it "world wide" is foolish.

Hope you are right though as l support England.
But some of the team members are awful.

I actually thought in the France game that the lads put in a first class team performance, Sweden game could have gone either way, and pretty much just did what was required against the Hosts ( not an easy thing to do). Italy are a different kettle of fish, probably just as well organized, should be a cracking game. Would have loved to see Ricky on the bench, the guy scores goals, Rooney does too, but he doesn't play for my team.

I prefer it to the World Cup 2010 squad. We took David James, Matthew Upson and Shaun Wright-Phillips to that tournament...

Not seen too much clowning by these guys, they all seem focused and proud to be wearing the shirt, something that has been missing for a long time...of course in my humble opinion!

They've looked terrible most of the competition! I think the first 30 minutes against France is the only time they've looked convincing at all!

You must have missed the last 30 minutes last friday night then Scott. Against Ukraine although not a great performance Joe Hart never had too many shots to save. We just let them have long range efforts. Can't really complain too much when the results are coming any manager that wins 4 and draws 1 of his first 5 games is doing a fairly decent job. England are just hard to beat now and bar 5 minutes of stupidity last Friday have defended well all tournament

i would like to say that the team done well against france, had a little bit of luck against sweden and deserved to beat the host's.
the defence have been resonably solid, parker is playing better than i thought he could and generally would be happy with the way they have performed.
but i won't they are still the worst squad and if they continue to play in the same way could and i mean could suprise us all and if they don't i will not have been disappointed. (again)
COME ON ENGLAND

I actually think this is one of the greater squads personally. Taking more players along who are passionate about wearing the shirt, makes a big difference. we needed to change the old way of taking big names who don't really want to be there. Hodgson is doing a amazing job and he reminds a bit of Alf Ramsey, he has the same father like attitude to the team. Whatever happens I will always be with England, and honestly see this as a new era for us.

Lionel Messi (who, admittedly, is a poor man's Adam Lallana) says Barcelona players rate Theo Walcott as one of the most dangerous players in world football. They're scared to death of him.
