THREE members of last season’s AFC Totton squad have signed for new clubs this week.

Midfielder James Coutts has joined Evo-Stik Premier Division new boys Gosport Borough, winger John McKie has pitched up at South & West outfit Sholing and midfield man Lewis Stockford has followed ex-Stags boss Stuart Ritchie to Havant & Waterlooville.

Coutts is one of Alex Pike’s three latest signings for Gosport, along with 6ft 3in striker Chamal Fenelon from Horndean and vastly experienced ex-Pompey, Swindon, AFC Bournemouth and Havant midfielder Sammy Igoe.

Portsmouth Academy graduate Stockford had spells on loan with Salisbury City and Totton last term before being released from Fratton Park after 11 years with his home town club. He has penned a one-year deal for the Hawks, who have also signed defender Ed Harris from Conference South rivals Dover Athletic.

Isle of Wight-based winger McKie, 24, began last season with Newport IoW and went on to make 11 appearances for Totton, mainly off the subs’ bench.

Sholing boss Dave Diaper said: “John’s very pacy and looks a useful player, but I think he got a bit disillusioned at Totton – you’ve got to be some player to keep Mike Gosney out of the side.”

Sholing entertain Saints under- 21s in a pre-season friendly this Tuesday (July 10, 7.30pm).
