Furious Bologna deny Ramirez deal
5:56pm Friday 17th August 2012 in Sport
Gaston Ramirez
BOLOGNA insist they have not agreed a £12m deal to sell Gaston Ramirez to Saints.
The 21-year-old has said he has agreed a deal to join Saints, but his Italian club, Bologna, are furious as they claim not to have accepted a fee, and are understood to want £16m for the player.
Bologna president Albano Guaraldi today expressed his frustration as he insisted the deal for Ramirez was still some way from being completed.
The wages on offer to Ramirez – which could amount to £60,000-£70,000 a week - are reportedly far above what he earns in Italy, but Guaraldi insists that will not affect Bologna’s negotiations.
“'Ramirez can say whatever he wants and I know he is very angry about this situation,” Guaraldi told the Corriere di Bologna.
“But I am the president of Bologna, and if the deal is only satisfactory to two parties out of three and the third is me, it won’t be done.
“The conditions proposed by the British (Southampton) did not satisfy me: they must either change or Ramirez will remain a Bologna player.”

Not the club's fault, more a case of other people jumping the gun and announcing something before it has happened. No wonder Saints have the good sense to keep things quiet - or try to - until a deal is done.

What with third party's screwing deals up, moaning shysters from up north bleating of improper approaches, and every manager thinking they can ask funny money for any player with a modecum of talent. This whole thing has been badly reported; and a timely reminder, not to believe anything until it appears on the official website.

the Uruguay international had claimed earlier in the week that a move to the Premier League side was close to completion after an £11.8 million bid was reportedly accepted by the Serie A outfit.
However, Guaraldi has warned that the move is further away from finalising than currently being reported.
He told Sky Sport 24: “The situation is much more complicated than he thinks. It’s not just about figures, but seeing what is included and what isn’t.”
And the club president went on to claim the bid from Southampton had never been considered and then slammed the player’s agent for his handling of the matter.
“The offer we received has not been considered suitable. His agent has already reached an agreement with the English club, but we haven’t.
“Now the situation is static, we made our demands and will see what happens.
“I don’t understand why Gaston said those things. I won’t even get into the behaviour of his agent.”
The Italian club remain defiant that they will not sell the player unless the €20m (£15.7m) is met, with Guaraldi hinting that interest from a number of other sides had already been rejected.
He continued: “We spoke to the top Italian clubs about Gaston, but I have always been clear: I’d let him go only for a suitable offer, which so far has not arrived. I maintained my consistency and refused the bid.
“I am irritated because one of my players spoke as if he were already at another club, when there still isn’t any agreement.
“I can understand his desire to make the move, but I do not share his timing and methods. All negotiations can collapse, which is why I consider the player’s attitude to be premature.
“The club cannot be forced to follow the rules of players and agents.”
The South American had earlier in the week talked about his excitement at signing for Southampton and shrugged off reports linking him to Inter Milan.
He told Sky Sport Italia: “Inter? There was nothing official. Southampton were the club who decided to sign me and I’m happy that I’ll be going there.”

Fact
Even if they all come up trumps (my bet is 25-30%) they need more.
Apparently there were 20 million at Southsea to see the bought and stolen and soiled cup. A couple of quid each would save them and enable them to maintain a life between Div 2 and Div 1.
But it will be better than that.

Nigel Adkins very responsibly only responds to the press article rather than adding fuel to the fire:
He says "I think he (Ramirez) has come out in Italy and said it is already sorted, but I think you'll find the policy of the football club is until the player has signed on the dotted line and we announce it then really we try to do everything privately. We have been consistent with that over the years and we'll probably stay that way.
"If it is true, then it obviously shows the ambition of the football club. I know the chairman, Nicola Cortese, is very ambitious here and it is great.
"We were in administration a few years ago and we've come a hell of a long way in a short space of time.
"To be linked with players as such - and don't forget we broke the transfer record in the summer when we signed Jay Rodriguez - shows we're very ambitious, but likewise we'll cut our cloth accordingly.
"Having been in administration once, the last thing we'll do is end up in that situation again. The club is run very well, very prudently.
"But we're very, very ambitious and having reached the Premier League now, very quickly, we've got to give ourselves an opportunity to do well there."
To me Nigel Adkins is one of the decent honest guys in football and Nicola Cortese is a decent Christian family man at the top of his game in business. Nicola had the trust of Markus Liebherr to the extent that he bought SFC. Now the family of Markus trust Nicola to continue the legacy.
I think I know where my allegiance lies but I just wish a few more fans and local media people showed a bit of gratitude and respect. The things some say and way they say it is sometimes at best shameful drivel.
Trust in Nicola and Nigel for memory of Markus.

“The situation is much more complicated than he thinks. It’s not just about figures, but seeing what is included and what isn’t,” said the President on Sky Sport 24.
“The offer we received has not been considered suitable. His agent has already reached an agreement with the English club, but we haven’t. Now the situation is static, we made our demands and will see what happens.
“I don’t understand why Gaston said those things. I won’t even get into the behaviour of his agent.”
Bologna remain adamant they will not release Ramirez for less than €20m, which is around £15.8m.
“We spoke to the top Italian clubs about Gaston, but I have always been clear: I’d let him go only for a suitable offer, which so far has not arrived.

The Echo is far from the paper it used to be.

Presidente Bologni can say what he likes and the Echo can choose who ever they like to quote but the fact is that the player is very excitedly blabbing to the Italian press that he is looking forward to coming over to be the centre of the Saints first team.

The story going around town last night about Ramirez was that in his usual fashion NC asked that the deal would be kept under wraps until the deal was done, much like the Buttner deal, but Ramirez and his agent jumped the gun and NC has walked away, the Bologna president is furious that it has leaked and that the deal could be scuppered I said could as the negotiations had reached a very late stage it is only the instalments to iron out and the medical. So who knows?

Carlos Tevez tweeted last night "Strange, when lying in a hot bath, how your willy floats to the top like a periscope." ie code for: "Just getting on Flybe 2113 to Southampton for medical with this fabulous club."
This raises two issues....
1. Any team spirit or loyalty in this overpaid man? I have my doubts.
2. What on earth are Nicola and Nige thinking? We need a tall CB - not a squat Argie prima donna.
Chances are this will fall through and NC and NA will have embarrassed us yet again.
Calling a skunt a Sotonian is the highest accolade that could possibly be bestowed upon them. However it's unlikely anyone would call a stunted six fingered runt a Sotonian other than by way of pisstake!

This young lad shot his mouth off but sense would put it down to passion and joy for his family etc.. he isn;t the first and won't be the last. The gap is small and if our Chairman sees this player as the heart of our future midfield then my guess is he'll close the gap and send the player straight to Nigel for first team duty asap.

Everyone, I come in peace.
Please ignore laff (I always thought the word is laugh!!!!) a minute (is that a minute as in 60 seconds of time? or minute as in very miniscule and insignificant) and he will go away.
When you are out on a lovely sunny day having a couple of beers and a BBQ (or whatever takes your fancy), you will always find an annoying wasp that tries to get in your wine glass or on top of your burger. The more you flap and try and get rid of it, the more that wasp comes back.
If you just ignore that wasp, it will get fed up and go and find another wine and burger to infestate.
Laffaminute is that wasp.
Thanks for your time.

Nearly 18000 crowd at Pompey yesterday, not bad for a club facing liquidation and has been deducted 10 points.
Food for thought, don't end up with a load of overpaid players on long contracts playing Championship football like Pompey has done.
