Winchester maintained their place at the top of hockey's Hants/Surrey Regional 2 with an 8-1 home thrashing of City of Portsmouth, courtesy of a Stuart Tognarelli hat-trick.
Tognarelli’s, below, dragflicked short corner was creamed high to the keeper’s right in the ninth minute for 1-0.
Six minutes later, Jon Saltmarsh made it 2-0 with a difficult, bouncing reverse stick shot.
Jamie Rawlings added a third goal, again from a short corner.
Tognarelli made it 4-0 with a deflected shot and Winchester’s fifth came five minutes before half time when Andy Thompsons brilliant left wing run and cross found Will Storrar ready to pounce.
The opening second-half exchanges were far more even and the visitors managed to claw a goal back, but Winchester hit back with three more goals from Tognarelli, Eric Woodward and Stuart Swift.
