AMAYA Scott made a sensational impact in her first heptathlon competition.

Southampton AC’s gifted multi-eventer put in a world-class age-group performance to take the South East Schools’ regional intermediate (under-17) girls’ title at London’s Lee Valley.

Amaya – daughter of former Solent Stars basketball ace Mark Scott – led the competition from the second round onwards, amassing a colossal 4,920 points and recording five personal bests in sprint hurdles, shot, long jump, javelin and 800m.

That weighty points total smashes the Southampton club record, tops the UK age-group rankings and puts Amaya tenth on the all-time age-group heptathlon list.

She will be going for more glory in September having qualified for the English Schools’ Multi-Events Finals to be held in Exeter.

Southampton teammate George Rosam finished 15th in the intermediate boys’ octathlon.

Hannah Childs was tenth for the junior (U15) girls and qualified for the English Schools’ finals as part of the winning Hampshire team on the day.

Callum Gregson came 11th for the junior boys and Jack McDonald 25th. Jack ended on a high with a huge personal best of 2 mins 12.3 secs in the 800m.
