HAMPSHIRE captain Jimmy Adams has signed a contract extension with the club, keeping him at the Rose Bowl until 2014.

The new skipper's previous deal was due to run out in 2013, but he is now committed to the county for the next three campaigns.

Adams, 31, said: “It’s great to be able to commit myself to the club for another year. I feel we have a great core of players and staff and the future is bright so I'm very excited about the next few years.

“There will be new challenges for all of us, starting with trying to get first division cricket back at the Rose Bowl.”

Hampshire manager Giles White added: “As captain and player Jimmy has a big part to play in Hampshire's future.

"He continues to push himself and develop his game through good honest hard work and we look forward to seeing what he can achieve in the coming seasons.”
