Bore draw at The Ageas Bowl

Daily Echo: JIMMY ADAMS JIMMY ADAMS

Hampshire had to settle for a bore draw against Derbyshire after Jimmy Adams failed to agree on a final-day target with his opposite number.

Derbyshire captain Wayne Madsen was not prepared to chase down the 352-8 that Hampshire made on Friday, so the LV County Championship match petered out into a draw.

Having been 37-3, with Kabir Ali (3-60) impressing with the new ball in his first Championship appearance of the season, Derbyshire recovered to take maximum batting points.

Dan Redfern and Wes Durston both hit centuries as the division two leaders amassed 403-9 before hands were shaken.

The fact that Derbyshire finished on 403 for 9 showed wahat a poor decision it was by their captain not to accept the challenge set by Jimmy Adams. Teams like Derbyshire should remember they are supposed to be in the entertainment business. No wonder they haven't won anything for years
