Shane Warne has thanked Hampshire for naming the Ageas Bowl's West Stand after him.

The East Stand has been named after the late Colin- Ingleby Mackenzie, another charismatic former Hampshire captain, who led the county to the 1961 County Championship.

The stands were officially named today.

Warne, Hampshire's captain from 2004-07, is also at The Ageas Bowl today to commentate on the first one-day international between England and the West Indies.

He used the social network site Twitter to say: "Thanks to everyone at Hampshire, loved my 8 years I feel v proud and honoured to have a stand named after me along with C Ingleby-Mackenzie...

"...Another huge thanks to the public and the board who voted for the stand to be named after me,means a lot as an Australian...

"...Glad you appreciated the time, effort & dedication we put in to make the club successful. A special thanks to Rod Bransgrove."
