That’s the challenge Sarisbury Athletic are sending out to their rivals after a sixth straight Premier Division One victory.

They continued their defence of the championship with a thumping ten-wicket win over Fawley.

But on-going concerns on whether they can extend the Allotment Road boundary to gain accreditation for Premier Division cricket still exist and time may be running out for the progressive club to do the work and get promotion, writes Mike Vimpany.

On the pitch, Sarisbury simply blew Fawley away and, when the visitors slumped to 90-7 after being put in to bat, there was only one likely outcome.

The evergreen Paul Marks (37) used all his experience to anchor down the Fawley innings, but Sarisbury’s bowling was sharp and penetrative – with Joe Lovett (2-23) a real handful.

He gave opener Tom Gates a real working over – Fawley’s main run getter admitting Lovett was as good as he had faced in a long while.

Blake Anderson (19) was the only other batsman in double figures as James Ingram (3-19) produced an equally impressive spell of pace.

Callum Earl’s unbeaten 49, supported by a gutsy knock from second teamer Andy McEhenney (17), lifted Fawley to 158 before Dan Goldstraw (2-29) ended the innings.

No more wickets fell after that – as Ricky Rawlins (78) and Archie Norris (72) blasted Sarisbury to a ten-wicket victory in the 28th over.

Between them they hit a six and 20 boundaries, sharing an unbroken 162-run partnership.

A posse of cricket-redundant Burridge players – returning from rain soaked Hook & Newnham Basics – watched with interest.

They visit The Hollow on Saturday week for a derby that will have massive implications in the eventual title race.
