Will Bosisto made his Totton & Eling return, but it was Bournemouth’s Ben Rogers whose innings won the ECB Southern Electric Premier League’s bottom team a precious 20-run victory.

On slow and lifeless Chapel Gate surface, it was the ex-Canford teenager’s boundary-strewn 85 off 63 balls which was the difference.

Rogers belted a six and 11 fours in his 85, and took the fight to the Totton attack as Bournemouth’s innings tailed off from 150-3 to 226 all out.

Alex Allum (40) and Jake Hurley (20) aided Rogers’ blistering display of batting, but tight bowling from James Haggaty (4-34) and an important spell from leg-spinner Harry Henley-Smith (3-55) brought Totton bowling bonus point.

Bosisto’s comeback after a nine-week ankle injury lay-off gave Totton the impetus to chase down the Lions’ total after two poor batting performances in previous weeks against Lymington and Bashley.

The Australian teenager’s steady 84 off 140 balls, aided by Haggaty’s 58, pointed Totton to a much needed win at 153-1 and then 181-2.

But, with the run-rate growing and tight spells from left-armer Matt Mixer (0-20) and Choudhry (2-31), Bournemouth’s total proved too much for the inexperienced Eels to chase.

Bournemouth remain bottom of the Premier Division, but confidence will be high for next Saturday’s showdown with St Cross in Winchester.
