Lymington are through to the second round of the Southern Electric t20 Cup – but last season’s semi-finalists New Milton have fallen at the first hurdle.

They crashed out to Premier Division 2 side Hartley Wintney, who beat them by 37 runs on the historic Cricket Green.

They struck two early blows, but South African Ari Karvelas (65) and Matt Kerr (31) took the game away from Milton, pointing the North Hampshire hosts to 164-7.

New Milton dropped to 14-2, rallied through Nick Park (43) and Ryan Beck (33), but fell away to 127 all out against Jack Cockram (4-18) and Tommy Flanders (3-29).

Rob Newman got Trojans in a terrible spin, taking five wickets for six runs in four overs as Trojans were skittled for a meagre 54 by OTs & Romsey’s.

Only Dan Babidge (12) reached double figures as Trojans plunged to the second lowest total in the competition’s history.

OTs earlier posted 148-5 (Charlie King 32), with the Newman brothers, Rob (37) and Pete (22) sharing an unbroken half-century partnership.
