Sholing playing catch-up after second false start

STUNNED Sholing have yet to start the Zamaretto South & West season after having a second fixture called off in the space of four days.

First Dave Diaper's men were deprived of their home opener against Bromsgrove Rovers on Saturday because the Worcestershire outift had been kicked out of the league.

Then, unbelievably, last night's game at Andover was postponed at 7pm because the Portway Stadium pitch was unfit for play.

"The pitch was in an awful state - I think they've had problems with rabbits making holes in the ground," said Sholing's disappointed boss Dave Diaper.

"If we'd known earlier, we could have switched the fixture to our place.

"It's unbelievably bad luck that we haven't started the season yet.

"I'm just waiting for our coach to break down on the way to Bishops Cleeve on Saturday!"
