FOLLOWING three weeks of cup commitments, AFC Totton returned to Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division duty with a comfortable 3-0 win over St Albans City on Saturday.

The Stags went in front on nine minutes when Mike Gosney’s free kick was headed home by Jamie Whisken.

Ten minutes later Dave Allen headed into the path of Richard Gillespie, whose charge towards goal was halted by City defender Curtis Ujah.

After referee Mr Foster had pointed to the spot, Gosney sent visiting keeper Nick Jupp the wrong way with the resulting penalty kick.

St Albans rarely threatened the home goal but on 32 minutes Barry Hayles released Lewis Toomey who shot over.

The Stags continued to dominate during the second period but had to wait until the 70th minute before increasing their lead.

After Allen had broken up a City attack, he pushed the ball into midfield, where Jonathan Davies embarked on a terrific solo run before firing home from just inside the area.
