STEVE Riley takes his AFC Totton squad on another long trip tomorrow in desperate need of improving the club’s away record.

The Stags, who claimed a creditable 0-0 draw at lofty Cambridge City at the weekend, are on the road again tomorrow at Oxfordshire club Banbury United.

Totton’s indifferent away form is high in the agenda. “The focus of our team talk before the game (at Cambridge) was being better away from home,” said Riley.

“I’m told we’ve played 19 away games since January this year and only won four of them. “We’ve won two this season, at St Neots and Bashley, and we only won a couple towards the end of last season when Stuart Ritchie was in charge .

“That has to be a mental thing.

“You’ve got to want to play away from home. “It’s important to have a good home record, but you need to pick up away points if you’re going to be in contention. “It’s all about getting an ugly draw away on a cold Tuesday night.

“Our back five did well and our teamwork was superb at Cambridge. “Now we’ve got to take that mentality with us to Banbury and try and get a result."
