NATHANIEL Sherborne netted his first home goal since his comeback from injury as AFC Totton saw off Burnham 2-1 at the Testwood Stadium tonight.
The popular frontman struck against the run of play to send the third-to-bottom Stags in 1-0 at half-time, but a catalogue of errors from the restart led to Miles Hippolyte equalising from the spot following Lewis Ross’s foul.
Sherborne had a second ‘goal’ chalked off for offside but, with five minutes remaining, Taylor Edwards earned Totton a free-kick on the edge of the box which fellow sub James Jennings smashed under the wall and into the bottom corner.
“That’s 13 points out of the last 21,” beamed proud boss Steve Riley. “In the last seven games we’ve competed like a team in this league.
“Steve Mowthorpe made two top-drawer saves to keep us in it in the first half before Luke Roberts and Zac Mouland linked up down the left and Nathaniel Sherborne beat the centre-half in a foot race and coolly finished.
“It was great to see Sherbs competing and looking so good after all he’s been though.”
