AFC Totton manager Steve Riley has today snapped-up defender Stuart Mott from Southern League South & West One rivals Sholing

The centre half arrived at the Silverlake Arena in the summer but has now been signed by the Stags who had been looking for defensive recruits.

“We have been looking to strengthen our defence since the beginning of the season," said Riley.  "And we believe Stuart will add strength and leadership to the role. We now have good competition for places in the centre of defence.”

Mott started his career at under 18 level with the Stags, but later joined Lymington Town in the Wessex League

He then moved on to Fareham Town and, following that, New Milton Town, before he settled at Alresford Town for several seasons.

A statement on the Sholing website said: "Centre-Half, Stuart Mott, has left the Boatmen after accepting an offer from AFC Totton.

"Stuart joined us in the summer from Alresford and it was his unexpected eye for a goal that made an immediate impact, scoring 5 goals in pre-season friendlies.

"Good luck in the future to Stuart.  The club is currently working on new additions to the first team squad."
