SHOLING named a young squad featuring five debutants for tonight's Russell Cotes Cup tie against AFC Totton and managed to beat their Southern League visitors 4-2.
Luke Dempsey headed Totton in front, but back surged the Boatmen through Jake Hoole, Lucas Sabo, James Davis and Jamie Bulpitt before on-loan Eastleigh midfielder Jack Alexander netted the Stags’ second.
Bulpitt, an ex-Totton player, scored the goal of the night with a dipping volley from 30 yards and had another long-range cracker tipped over by Stags keeper Steve Mowthorpe.
Totton's other Eastleigh loanee Tony Lee struck the outside of the post and Charlie Wagstaffe rattled the crossbar late on.
Sholing will host Sydenhams Premier rivals Horndean in round two.
