Eastleigh manager Jason Dodd believes his Spitfires side are now a tough nut to crack after watching them secure a second successive shut-out in a goalless stalemate with Lewes.

Last night's game gave Eastleigh a chance to build on the impressive 3-0 league win they recorded at the 10th-placed Sussex side on Saturday.

But, in an instant return Nationwide Conference South fixture of very few clear-cut chances at the Silverlake Stadium, neither side broke the deadlock in front of a crowd of 537.

Ex-Saints defender Dodd, though, said recording clean sheets was a good habit for his side to get into ahead of a busy run of fixtures.

"After our result on Saturday, we knew they would come out flying," Dodd said.

"So tonight one of the positives is another clean sheet.

"Okay, it is disappointing not to score, because everyone knows that is where we have been struggling, but we are becoming a hard team to beat.

"And I think that, in the position we are in, that stands us in good stead, because we have got five or six games in the next three or four weeks."
